Introducing Virtual Weddings at The Vow Exchange Chapel in KCMO!

We are so excited to tell you more about the latest way The Vow Exchange is helping local Kansas City couples get married in a stress-free, affordable, and totally unique manner! The Vow Exchange has always been known for addressing head on the struggles that couples face when planning their wedding and offering real world solutions for them. It’s actually that line of thinking that first brought The Vow Exchange to life and is the reason they have continued to evolve over the years. Now that couples are facing a brand new problem, it’s no surprise that The Vow Exchange Owner, Kathryn Hogan, rushed to build a new system to address their needs. Couples who are struggling to find a way to get married with their friends and family in attendance during the COVID-19 outbreak will love the new offering from The Vow Exchange: Virtual Weddings!

If you have a million and one questions on how a virtual wedding works (everyone does), then we have the perfect video for you! Drop whatever it was you were doing and hit play below! Then continue reading on for our “behind the scenes review” of the Virtual Weddings offered by The Vow Exchange!

I was lucky enough to be invited to the stress test for virtual weddings at The Vow Exchange Chapel where they tested their live interaction virtual wedding system and I was blown away. Do not be mistaken, The Vow Exchange is not just giving couples a way to Facebook live stream their own wedding. Neigh, they have developed an entire system that:

1) Displays your invited guests on a big screen TV so it feels like they’re really there!

When I participated in the test, it was so exciting to see my best friends up on the big screen. By the time it was over, my hand hurt from waving and my face hurt from smiling.

2) Lets you stand close to the camera while showing off the gorgeous Vow Exchange Chapel in the background

The Vow Exchange has positioned their TV and camera in the back area of the chapel facing the altar so that when the couple gets married, the entirety of the gorgeous venue serves as the background behind them. But at the same time, they are close to the camera so all the emotion is captured on tape. In the test scenario, I played the part of the bride and pretended to marry my good friend Lyndsey. I felt incredible walking up the aisle to Lyndsey with the giant barn doors and hanging string lights surrounding me. Even though I was dressed in my street clothes, I immediately felt like a bride.

2) Lets you hear your friends and family hoot and holler when you share that first kiss!

After declaring “I do”, Lyndsey and I leaned in (as close as social distancing allows) for a pretend kiss and the TV speaker erupted with “yays” and “woohoos”. We cheered in return before taking our exit back down the aisle together! This is something you would never get with a traditional live stream service.

3) Gives you a “virtual receiving line” aka the opportunity to chat with your virtual attendees one at a time.

It’s the perfect way to thank your guests, send your love, or share some toasts! We chose to have a small cake cutting ceremony and then pop the champagne. Once everyone had a drink (in person and online) we took turns sharing a few words and clinking our glasses. Though in the test scenario we just had a little happy hour, the whole setup made it feel like we were truly celebrating!

I haven’t even mentioned how cool it is that The Vow Exchange Virtual Wedding package includes digital invitations, your own wedding website, and a virtual swag bag full of virtual backgrounds and games for your guests to play from home! I am so glad I was invited to be a part of such a cool experience and I can’t wait to hear from couples across Kansas City after they experience The Vow Exchange Virtual Wedding for themselves!
