Which Wedding Venue is The One for You: The Vow Exchange Chapel in the KC Crossroads or The Chapel on the Corner in Liberty, MO?
We feature not one, but two intimate wedding venues to serve the needs of KC couples looking to tie the knot. Both venues are fully decorated, candle lit, and ready to host the wedding of your dreams. The only thing left for you to do is decide which one is more your vibe. Which is why we’ve put together this handy dandy blog to help you decide the answer to the big question: “which wedding venue is the one for you?”
1. Altar Backdrop
“I envision an altar that’s dramatic and full of texture.”
Sounds like you should get hitched at The Vow Exchange Chapel. The 100 year old barn wood doors stand tall among layers of distressed wood and are adorned on all sides by metallic black lanterns filled with real wax candles and seasonal silk flower arrangements. With so much to catch your eye, The Vow Exchange Chapel altar backdrop is one of the most breathtaking places to get married in KC.
“My altar should convey classic elegance (but nothing too formal please).”
Glide into The Chapel on the Corner to make things official! Layers of fluffy white curtains drape elegantly over the giant arch window at the chapel altar. Rose gold lanterns shimmer in the light underneath our vintage mint green glass chandelier. Such a dreamy backdrop is perfect for soulmates looking to pledge their love for the rest of time.
2. Capacity
“I want an intimate wedding but I’d be hard pressed to get my guest list under 50.”
Invite your guests to The Chapel on the Corner in Liberty, MO! The Vow Exchange Chapel snugly seats 50 guests, whereas, you can fit in an extra two dozen guests at The Chapel on the Corner. Yep, our intimate wedding chapel in Liberty, MO comfortably seats 70 so you can fit in those cousins or even your second cousins!
“Do I even have to invite guests?”
No you don’t! Both The Vow Exchange Chapel and The Chapel on the Corner offer Mini Ceremonies where couples can elope in style. Skip the stuffy courthouse and say “I do” in one of our beautiful venues. Come in all by yourselves or bring up to 15 of your closest family and friends!
3. Location
“I like the charm & slower pace of a small town.”
Lucky for you, The Chapel on the Corner is located in the cutest small town in all of Missouri. Seriously, the Downtown Liberty Square is so stinkin’ cute! Founded in 1822, Liberty has an authentic old world charm that now serves as a vibrant backdrop for our gorgeous couples. After you get hitched at our chapel, stroll the small town square hand-in-hand with your new spouse and don’t forget to stop and smell the roses.
“I love the excitement & energy of downtown.”
The Vow Exchange Chapel is located in the coolest neighborhood in Kansas City - The Crossroads Arts District. Couples who truly understand how cool our city is will love getting hitched at our downtown chapel and then walking the streets with their new spouse, taking in the city skyline. Locals consider the Crossroads to be a “cultural mecca” in our city and we think our couples can attest there is a certain excitement about spending your wedding day in the heart of the Crossroads Arts District. Bonus: the entire neighborhood is covered in some of the best street art the city has to offer. The graffiti portrait potential is off the charts!
4. Walk-up appeal
“Think: on the corner of happily & ever after.”
We’ve already told you about the small town charm of Liberty, MO where The Chapel on the Corner resides. But it’s worth having a whole discussion about it’s “walk-up appeal”. The Chapel on the Corner sits on the corner (hence the name) just outside of the most gorgeous little neighborhood with giant trees that almost seem ancient. These trees start blooming early each Spring and bless us with the most beautiful leaves all the way until Winter. On any given weekend you’ll find our parking lot (just across the street) filled with handsome groomsmen straightening their ties, bridesmaids switching into their heels, and grandmas & grandpas dressed in their Sunday best heading straight for our chapel!
“Think: hidden gem 1930’s speakeasy.”
If you’re looking for a small place that’s seriously special, we direct you to The Vow Exchange Chapel. Our Chapel is located near the heart of downtown, yet off the beaten path. When arriving to The Vow Exchange Chapel, your guests will go from busy Main Street down into the alleyway between McGee & Oak Street where they will be transported away from the hustle and bustle of downtown and into the coolest intimate venue they’ve ever seen. Another benefit of being tucked away in the alley is that all your guests can drive straight up to our door for drop off, especially your older guests who may otherwise have anxiety about traveling into the city.
5. Overall aesthetic
“Farmhouse Chic is my go-to”
We’ve got the “barn wedding” of your dreams right here! And you don’t even need to travel to Timbuktu to get it. Vow Exchange Owner, Kathryn Hogan, used her 20+ years of experience in the creative arts to build from scratch an entire “farmhouse in the city” where brides and grooms from all over the Midwest can have the wedding they’ve dreamed of without having to DIY design it. The blend of antique chairs and lathed wooden leg benches, draped string lights across the ceiling, and a dozen black hanging lanterns are just a few of our favorite “rustic chic” accents at The Vow Exchange Chapel. The farmhouse vibes are strong in the bridal lounge, chapel seating area, altar, and just about every square inch of the place!
“Provincial Glamour is more my style”
Your magical dream day can come to life at The Chapel on the Corner. Five years after opening The Vow Exchange Chapel, Kathryn Hogan was at it again using her experience (including a BFA from The Kansas City Art Institute and almost 10 years as a product designer with Hallmark Cards) to create a totally original wedding chapel. With floor to ceiling sheer white drapery and the glamour of rose gold accents sprinkled throughout, we met our goal of creating a wedding space that feels classic without being “too fancy” like the wedding venues of yesteryear. Now every weekend we get to help ensure our brides feel glamorous from the moment they walk in the bridal lounge and our grooms feel just as sharp while they wait at the altar!
